“Hi, my name is Kristen Riley and I am addicted to getting a good deal.”  Yep, that is me-the addicted one- up there with my three adorable kids-Joelie, Zia and Kale!  Aren’t they super cute?   They don’t completely get the whole addicted-to-saving-money-thing yet… but I have been training them for the last couple years!  My husband (not pictured above) doesn’t totally get it either, but he just lets me do my thing and simply tries to appreciate the money that I save our family-even if that means listening to me go on for an hour about how “I just saved 80% on my grocery bill at Dillons and got 10 free bars of soap.”

Okay, getting serious here… the reason I started this blog was to have a support group of other super crazy frugal people that can’t stand not getting the best deal on everything!   And if you aren’t already there, then I want this blog to help you get there!  Yes, sometimes an addiction is okay…sorry to my therapist friends out there!  I am kinda crazy about getting good deals on, well…everything!  I don’t like spending my husband’s hard earned money until I know that I am getting the best deal on whatever it is that I might be buying!   With the help of my husband I named the blog “Pays To Be Frugal” and I think it pretty much explains itself.  Although I don’t earn a paycheck currently, my financial contribution to our family is saving money on everyday living expenses-from toilet paper and cheez-its to our phone bill and clothing our kids!  My paycheck to our family is by being frugal!  We currently spend $200 a month and sometimes less on our food, toiletries, clothing and other little household stuff.

I have been learning the how-to’s of being frugal since I started working when I was a kid… and didn’t like wasting my own money….but I am continually learning and looking for other ways to save money and make the most out of the money that we have!   I would love to hear any feedback that you have!!  Let’s learn together how to spend more wisely on EVERYTHING!

A few other random things about me:

I think God totally rocks-I mean who else would completely and totally love & forgive me daily even with all of my imperfections and mess-ups!

My husband and I lead the youth group at our church-and have a totally awesome bunch of kiddos young adults!

We are total Dave Ramsey fans so there will probably be a lot of “that kind of talk” around this blog!

I have been told the unfunniness of my jokes is the only thing that makes them funny!  (although I think I am pretty funny)

I am also told quite frequently that I am short- yes, this one is true, I measure in right at 5 feet tall (with my shoes on).

I am one of those crazy runner people and have been most of my life- I think we are a different breed and kinda strange… ha ha!  I am running two half marathons this year with my best running buddy from high school and college.

I love people and will talk to pretty much anyone… not that you shouldn’t feel special if I talk to you, it’s just that I love people and am a “talker” …. though I don’t do too bad at the whole listening thing either!

Oh, and just to answer a question that I have received oh-so-many times already since I started this blog… “no, I don’t buy or do every single deal that I post on this site, just the ones that work for my family!  If I did every single deal all the time, I would be exhausted and probably spend more than what my budget allows for!!
