I keep Christmas shopping enjoyable by making personalized calendars for our family. They are much cheaper than buying a present for our parents, grandparents, etc., they last all year long, and they look forward to them every year! I even made them for all of my day care parents last year ~ It brought some of them to tears!

For our kids, I try to start shopping early before the Christmas rush so I don’t have to deal with so many people who ruin the spirit of Christmas.

I like to spread my shopping out so that I’m not so overwhelmed as the holidays approach. If I buy over the year, I can usually find better deals and think more about what the person I’m shopping for would like.

Christmas shopping gives me a reason to shop…and you know I love to shop. As far as a tip goes, make sure you have a plan for everyone on your list like an idea and a price. Look around for the best deal!

“Window Shop” online ahead of time to know where to go fir certain items. If you can shop enough in advance, Ebay is a great way to find unique gifts at a cheap price.

I never do all my shopping at once… I tend to get very frustrated that way… I spread it out over weeks so I can enjoy it a whole lot more!

  36. Deloris Hiebert says:

Instead of giving each other gifts this year that we buy, we are going to wrap gifts that we get free through couponing. The money we would have spent on each other we are going to use to fill Samartian’s shoeboxes for children in need, buy school supplies for children in other countries, shoes for children in Africa, and anything else that we find that will fill the some the need of children around the world. We will wrap the gifts that we got free through refunding and then play family board games and whoever wins a game gets to pick a prize.

  39. Allison says:

I come from a very large family and to help budget my Christmas spending I am always looking for sales and clearance throught the year. I also try to buy a gift for at least one person each month so I don’t have a lot of shopping to do at one time come December. Thanks for the chance in your giveaway!

I am addicted to your site already… I have been checking in frequently to see what other deals are available. I have already saved about 30 dollars using your tips. Thank you so much.

I love Christmas, but to keep it from being overwhelming or a tragedy in January, we only pay cash and we look for novel stuff – something different. We also started a tradition years ago (approximately 15 years ago) of making our own holiday jam that we only “produce” at Christmas. People from many states and many years ago still look forward to that jelly being a part of their holiday trandition!

  43. Katie M says:

I like shopping for things really early then I don’t have to make any quick and not so exciting buys. Just me though :)

  44. Louise Tharp says:

I always start early and try to keep a list of who I need to shop for!

  45. Sharon says:

I learned to make English Toffee and homemade caramels. I give it away to special people in my life. I put it in a bag or container that I have either made/decorated using my craft/scrapbooking skills. Through the years, people have let me know that they are disappointed if they don’t get the “royal” treatment. It makes me feel really good that they treasure my “homemade” gifts and look forward to them each year.

  46. elisha revisky says:

I have to make a list and I don’t wait til the last minute.

  47. Pam says:

Chinese inspired decorated boxes from Hobby Lobby make great gift boxes for homemade Christmas treats. Just add a little tissue paper in the inside and your done.
